Abstract

Japan is the second largest power in the world in terms of economy, and its efficiency of energy and electricity is one of the highest among the countries. Focusing on analysis of the developing trend and the major influencing factors of Japan's energy utilization efficiency (economy efficiency) and electricity consumption efficiency, this paper expatiates the characteristics of energy and electricity consumption of Japan in different stages of economic growth after World War Ⅱ While proposing that economy structure adaptation, energy consumption structure optimization and economical energy use implementation are important factors in Japan's energy efficiency increase, it also points out the discrepancy between the electricity consumption intensity and the energy consumption intensity resulting from the continually rising level of electrification. Revelations are drawn from this study that will be instructive to the development of energy in China.
