Abstract
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect and side-effect of domestic-moclobemide(MCL).Method A double-blind trial was designed for comparing moclobemide and imipramine(IP) in treating depression.40 patients were randomly assigned to MCL group (n=20) and IP group (n=20) for 4 weeks. Effect and side-effect were evaluated by Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale (TESS) before treatment and weekly during therapy period. Results There was no significant difference in response rate between MCL group and IP group,as well as score of HAMD after treatment.Anticholinergic side-effect in IP group was significantly greater than MCL group.Moclobemide was far better tolerce than imipramine. Conclusion Moclobemine is as effective as imipramine in treating depression with less side-effect.
