Abstract

Objective To investigate the value of fetal fibronectin(fFN) in the cervical secretions detection combined with cervical length(CL) measurement in predicting the threatened preterm labor. Methods 80 pregnant women with symptoms of threatened premature labor underwent fFN and CL testing. The pregnant outcomes were tracked. Results ①Among 80 subjects, positive fFN was detected in 42.5%(34 cases). The incidence of preterm birth was 82.4%,the difference was significant compared to the group with negative fFN(P 0.05).The negative predictive value of delivery within 48 hours,7 days and 37 weeks were 100.0%,100.0% and 84.8%.②CL was measured in all 80 cases, the CL≤30 mm was abnormal. There were positive diagnosis of 35,actual premature labor 26(74.3%),the difference was significant compared to the group with normal CL(P 0.05).The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of positive fFN and abnormal CL for preterm birth were 80.8%,96.9%,95.5% and 93.9% respectively. Conclusion Cervical fFN is an objective indicator in predicting preterm labor. The detection of fFN combined with the measurement of CL can improve the positive and negative predictive values in predicting spontaneous preterm birth.
