Treatment and prevention of complications after colostomy

Objective To investigate the treatment and prevention of complications caused by colostomy in Miles operation.Methods The clinical data of 9 patients with complications caused by colostomy were analyzed retrospectively.Results In 9 patents with complications caused by colostomy,1 had stoma retraction,3 stoma stenosis,1 colon prolapsus,3 stoma necrosis,and 1 peristomal hernia.Most of the patients were cured after second operation.Conclusions To prevent complications after colostomy in Miles operation,the following principles should be followed:skin diameter2.5 cm,hole width three fingers,and intestinal length 3 cm.
