Abstract

Objective:To evaluate clinical effects and the characteristics by micro-implant anchorage during mandibular molar distalization in Class III malocclusal patients.Methods:32 micro-implants were embedded in mandibular bones between second premolar and first molar of 16 Angle III malocclusal patients as clinical anchorages for distalizing mandibular molars.Position changes of mandibular molars were measured from 2 aspects and implant anchorage loss was determined by maxillary central incisors. Results:Relation between all upper and lower molars was Class I in all cases. The velocity of maxillary first molar distalizing was 0.8mm per month, distally tipping 3.9°.Mandibular central incisor did not move. Conclusion:The method successfully distalized mandibular molars to appropriate positions. The anchorage did not lost. The implant was absolute anchorage during mandibular molar distalization.Clinic application is easy and convenient and the method is worthpromoting.
