Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the methods of surgical treatment of acute lower limb ischemia. Methods:From January 2007 to June 2008,88 patients with acute lower limb ischemia were treated by surgical methods, intraarterial thrombolysis by conduit pip or percutaneous transluminal angioplasty(PTA),and the clinical data were retrospectively analyzed. Results:Fogarty catheter embolectomy through the femoral artery was performed in 59 patients. 50 patients proved to be embolism intra-operatively and the effective rate was 94.0%. In addition, nine cases were considered to be thrombosis and six people were amputated (67.7%). By contrast,29 patients who received angiography, thrombolysis or PTA got an effective rate of 89.7%. Conclusion:Fogarty catheter embolectomy was adequate to the acute arterial embolism, and acute thrombosis of lower extremity should be treated by thrombolysis or PTA.
