An analysis on the cited articles of Chinese Journal of Oncology

Objective To probe into the condition of the cited articles published in Chinese Journal of Oncology from 2002 to 2005.Method According to the data from Chinese Medical Citation Index(CMCI),the amount and distribution of the original articles in Chinese Journal of Oncology cited by the journals in CMCI were analyzed statistically.Results The citation rate of published articles was 50.48%.The average frequency of original articles cited by other researchers was 3.41,there were 22 articles cited by other researchers for over 11 times and the highest citation frequency of a single article was 46.There were 10 authors cited by other researchers for over 18 times and the authors of these articles were from 22 provinces or municipalities,the first three of which were Beijing,Guangdong and Shanghai.There were 427 journals citing this journal,15 journals cited this journal for over 16 times;and its self-citing rate was 7.68%.Conclusion The quality of the published articles of the Chinese Journal of Oncology was very high,and the journal has a steady research system.The journal is not only one of the most important information resources for the oncology researchers,but also one of the most significant core medical journals in China.
