Abstract

Six grass and nine legumes varieties were introduced to Dushan county, Guizhou province Introduction trials were carried out, and two local varieties of both grass and legume varieties served as comparisons All herbage varieties grew well during development stages and safely survived winter and summer They could be cut 5~6 times each year with fresh forage yields reaching 36 558 2 to 66 450 0 kg/hm 2, and hay yields reaching 10 771 0 to19 869 0 kg/hm 2 Herbage varieties which showed good characteristics were Totter ( Dactylis glomerata ) and Alice ( Trifolium repens ), followed by Wana ( Dactylis glomerata ), Tuoa ( Dactylis glomerata ), Nui ( Lolium perenne ), Bronsyn ( Lolium perenne ), C6151 ( Trifolium repens ), Prop ( Trifolium repens ), Pitua ( Trifolium repens ), Sustain ( Trifolium repens ), Marble ( Lotus corniculatus ), and Leo ( Lotus corniculatus )
