Abstract
The midbrain periaqueductal gray is an important structure in the limbic system of the brain. The important functions are associated with the midbrain periaqueductal gray analgesic mechanisms, autonomic function, emotion and behavioral responses, learning and memory etc.The approach about studing subarea and cytoarchitecture of the midbrain periaqueductal gray in resent years only was reviewed.
