Abstract

The numbers of culturable bacteria including heterotrophic bacteria(HB),amylolytic bacteria(AB),organ phosphate-solubilizing bacteria(OPB),inorgan phosphate-solubilizingbacteria(IPB),chitin-decomposing bacteria(CLB),lipolytic bacteria(LB),cellulolytic bacteria(CB),sulfur-oxidating bacteria(SOB)and vibrio(VB) in the sediments of shrimp ponds were counted using the plate count methods from October 2003 to May 2004,in a new-built and a fifteen-year old shrimp pond in the East Sea of Quan Zhou, and the correlation between heterotrophic bacteria and other functional bacteria was studied. The numbers of total culturable heterotrophic bacteria ranged from 1.95×104 to7.7×105 CFU/g in the new pond and from 2×104 to1.88×105 CFU/g in the old pond.Other functional bacteria and vibrio had a big fluctuation with similar to that of heterotrophic bacteria in the whole farming periods, but statistical analysis indicated that AB,OPB,LB and VB had positive correlation with HB,while CLB,CB and SOB had no obvious correlation with HB.
