The Cultural Connotations of English and Chinese Words and Their Translations

Abstract

The cultural value of the language is a very important issue to be considered in translation.Words,as the most active and dynamic part of the language,should be paid more attention to,especially their cultural connotations,in E-C translation,and vice verse.Starting with a comparison of some words of metaphor,idioms and words of religion,the paper aims to explore their cultural connotations and corresponding translations in both languages.
