Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus moxa-stick moxibustion in treating idiopathic facial paralysis.Method Sixty patients with idiopathic facial paralysis were randomized into a treatment group and a control group,30 each. The treatment group received acupuncture plus moxa-stick moxibustion, while the control group received acupuncture treatment. The changes of House-Brackmann score and motor latent period and amplitude of facial nerve were observed.Result The total effective rate was 96.7% in the treatment group versus 86.7% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P 0.05);after treatment, the motor latent period and amplitude were improved in both groups, and the inter-group differences were statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture plus moxa-stick moxibustion has a better therapeutic efficacy than acupuncture alone in treating idiopathic facial paralysis.
