Abstract

Contrary to Mr.Liang Shaohui's view that tends to completely negate Zeng Guofan,this paper proposes views from three different perspectives:firstly,Zeng Guofan initiated Westernization Movement which was more important than the suppression of the Taiping Uprising;secondly,Zeng Guofan and his descendants carried on the spirit of caring the country,nation and society,in both words and deeds;thirdly,Zeng Guofan was a historical figure who facilitated the progress of modern China.
