Abstract
Chronostratigraphy implications of 31 species of calcareous nannofossils are clarified respectively,18 zones and 3 combined zones are renewed based on abundant calcareous nannofossils from 67 cores in Yinggehai-Qiongdongnan Basin, northern South China Sea,together with recent progress of ODP Leg 184 and the international standard chronostratigraphic timescale(2004).The ages of the Yacheng Formation,Lingshui Formation,Sanya Formation,Meishan Formation,Huangliu Formation,Yinggehai Formation and Ledong Formation are discussed according to the calcareous nannofossils analysis.Fossil correlation symbols from Oligocene are affirmed in the study area.
