Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect and indication of single maxillary extraction orthodontics for the treatment of adult patients with Angle Class Ⅱ divisionⅠmalocclusion. Methods Twelve adult patients with Angle Class Ⅱ division Ⅰ malocclusion were treated by single maxillary extraction orthodontics. The cephalometric analysis before and after treatment were performed and the data statistically analyzed. Results The profile of the 12 patients and upper lip prutrusion were significantly improved. The relationship was toatally distal between the molars and neutral between the canines. The anterior overjet and overbite was normal. Conclusion Single maxillary extraction orthodontics could be applied in the treatment of adult patients with Angle Class Ⅱ divisionⅠmalocclusion and is especially suitable for adult patients with mild Angle Class Ⅱ division Ⅰ malocclusion and less lower arth space.
