Research on Thematic Maps Based on Technology of Keywords Clustering—Taking GIS Visualization as an Example

This paper made the statistics of the keywords appeared in the documents in the area of GIS visualization in 2001 and in 2008 using co-term analysis method.The statistical result was mapped to the co-term matrixes and related matrixes after standardized pre-process.With the aid of the analysis function and the visualization function of the professional statistical software SPSS,the visualized maps were drawn,then with MapInfo the geographic information system software,document information were added on visualized maps to form the information layer and finally created thematic maps.This paper also introduced the theories and methods about thematic maps in brief.By contrast between the thematic maps,it was clearly seen that the visualization application in 2008 was much wider than in 2001 in the following aspects such as aviation,traffic,DEM,pipeline,military battlefields,knowledge management etc.
