Abstract
In this paper research porgress in NiAl-based intermetallic compound is presented and evaluated. Because of many excellent properties of NiAl-based intermetallic compound,it is being considered as a material for high temperature applications. But its use is limited by its low ductility at room temperature and low strength at high temperature. Research on its crystalline structure and defect, mechanical properties and chemical properties is reviewed in detail. The room temperature ductility and high temperature strength can be improved through microstructure control,alloying and processing technique modification.
