Abstract
Due to the small annular space of slim hole,slim hole drilling was more difficult than a conventional drilling, higher requirements was put forward on its drilling fluids.The performance of formulation of drilling fluid with density of 1.50g/cm3 for slim-hole drilling of an offshore well was studied.The results show that the slim hole drilling fluid has agood comprehensive performance including rheology,filtration,inhibition and lubricity for guaranteeing the control of ECD in target wells,thus it effectively prevents the small annular space in slim hole and lost circulation induced by high ECD,it can meet the requirements of slim hole drilling for target wells.
