Abstract

The main objective of this study was to examine the effects of addition of L-cysteine in diluents on the qualitative parameters and peroxidation level of membrane lipid of frozen-thawed sperm. The results show that:(1)Addition of 0.1 mg·mL-1 L-cysteine in diluents can significantly improve the viability, the rate of acrosomal integrity and in vitro fertilization rate of frozen-thawed sperm(P0.05),but does not affect the kinematic parameters(P0.05).(2)Addition of L-cysteine(0.1,0.2 and 0.3 mg·mL-1 L-cysteine) in diluents can significantly reduce the level of membrane lipid peroxidation(P0.05).Our results show that addition of L-cysteine in diluents can improve the efficiency of pig sperm cryopreservation.
