Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of simvastatin combined with acipimox in trearment of patients with combined hyperlipidemia. Methods:A 4 weeks,randomized,single-blind paralleled study was performed in sixty outpatients who were randomly divided into single drug treatment group(simvastatin 20 mg/d,po) and combined treatment group(simvastatin 20 mg/d and acipimox 0.25 g,bid,po). Each group had 30 patients. The effectiveness of the treatment and adverse drug reactions(ADR) were observed. Results: After 4 weeks of treatment, the serum concentrations of total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG) and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C),and the concentration ratio of [TC-high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C)]/HDL-C were decreased remarkably and the serum concentration of HDL-C was increased in two groups. However, compared with the single drug treatment group, the rates of TG decrease and HDL-C increase in the combined treatment group were more significant(P0.01).The incidence of adverse reactions of the two groups was low and the symptoms were mild. Conclusion:Simvastatin combined with acipimox has good effectiveness and tolerance in treatment of patients with combined hyperlipidemia.
