Abstract
Palygorskite supported 12-phosphotungstic acid is prepared by reflux and evaporation of the water mixture of acid activated palygorskite. It is characterized by IR and XRD spectroscopy. It is applied as catalyst in the n-butyl acetate synthesis. The orthogonal experiment shows that the esterification yield is 99.8% and the selectivity is nearly 100% under the conditions:the molar ratio of n-butanol to acetic acid is 1∶1.2,the weight of catalyst is 1.7% of total weight, the volume of cyclohexane as water carrier is selected as 6 mL,the reaction time is 80 min and the reaction temperature is at 105 ℃.
