Abstract
Based on Guidelines for Reservoir Dam Safety Evaluation(SL 258—2000),a seepage stability evaluation for the dam of Xiashan Reservoir was carried out by analysis of the monitoring data of dam seepage with finite element method(FEM) and analysis of its operation behavior. The result shows that the seepage stability of the sand layers in the foundation of the main dam cannot meet the technical criteria because of the lack of effective measures for seepage control and the aging of the dam project, and that there exist seepage stability problem in the foundation of several sections of Zhenggong secondary dam and contact seepage stability problem between Yongwangtun conduit and the dam body of Wulan secondary dam.It is suggested that reinforcement measures should be taken and rational operation and safety monitoring should be strengthened.
