Abstract

A double-vibrator linear ultrasonic motor was designed to drive an exact linear transmission system.The motor consists of two symmetrical vibrators which use the bending modes to control the motion.Each vibrator has one piezoelectric stack consisting of four PZT-4 piezoelectric pieces with their centers all aligned along an axis.Then,the position of flexible bracket was determined.Simulations show that the motor works in B3 mode.The motor was tested on an exact linear transmission system.With low initial forces and Up-p voltage of 311 V,the maximum velocity with no load V0 was 704 mm/s.When Up-p was 226 V and the initial force F0 was 12.69 N,the motor had a pull force F of 2.1 N.Thus,the results show that the motor can be used to drive exact linear transmission systems.
