Analyzing the Growth Volume of the Populus Euphratica before and after the Emergent Transfusing Water into the Lower Reaches of Tarim River——A Case Study along Ka'erdayi Section

Abstract

The growth volume of the populus euphratica at the different distance away the river channel has been researched by the means of profile analysis with matlab 6.5 statistical software at Ka'erdayi section on the lower reaches of Tarim river.The result shows that the growth volume curve of the populus euphratica before the emergent transfusing water(1994~1999) at the different distance away the river channel is not only parallel but also coincident and horizontal.It means that the growth volume at temporary and spatial scale is almost the same because of the long term shortage of surface water supply from the middle river of Tarim river.After the emergent transfusing water(2000~2004) into the river the growth volume curve of the populus euphratica is not parallel,coincident and horizontal.It means the growth volume of the populus euphratica is different.The growth volume of the populus euphratica was analyzed related to the historical underground water data at Ka'erdayi section before the emergent transfusing water and the transfusing water data after the emergent transfusing water.It shows that the growth volume is almost same before the emergent transfusing water because of the same underground water condition at different distance away the river channel.The first-order batch of the populus euphratica can keep in limited growth volume under 9m underground water.With the increase of water supply volume and the rise of the underground water,then the growth volume of the populus euphratica begin to rise after the emergent transfusing water.The growth volume from the near distance away the river channel to the far distance away the river channel present a gradual decrease trend.The growth volume at all the same distance away the river channel present such a trend as the transfusing water volume increase associated with increased growth volume of the species.With the transfusing water volume decrease the growth volume begin to decrease.The growth volume after the emergent transfusing water is lager than that before the emergent transfusing water.The growth volume responded actively to the emergent transfusing water and can be taken as a important indicator to appraise the restore performance of populus euphratica.All the results show water is the magnificent and key factor to restore the ecology environment on the lower reaches of Tarim River.The emergent transfusing water has improved the growth and restoration of popolus euphratic obviously.
