Abstract
Objective To discuss the predictive value of serum procalcitonin(PCT) in multi-trauma-caused acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS) combined with pulmonary infection. Methods Forty-five multi-trauma patients(MT group) admitted to ICU of this hospital from January 2011 to June 2012 were divided, according to occurrence of ARDS,into groups non-ARDS(n = 29),ARDS(n = 16).Twenty healthy subjects were enrolled as controls.Simple clinical pulmonary infection score(sCPIS) were performed dynamically in ARDS group and the patients with were subdivided, according to 6 sCPIS,into groups infection(n = 13),non-infection(n = 3).Serum PCT level was determined on days 1,3,5,7.Results PCT level was higher in MT group than in control group on days 1,3,5,7 after trauma, the difference was significant(P 0.05),higher in ARDS group than in non-ARDS group, higher in infection group than in non-infection group(P 0.05).Conclusion PCT test is of good predictive value in multi-trauma-caused ARDS patients accompanied pulmonary, and sCPIS combined with PCT is better.
