Abstract
The issue of intellectual property rights has touched upon the key global economic competitiveness of the EU. Besides the driving force of the magnificent business interests, intellectual property right has been used as an important tool by the EU to realize its complex interest requests from the Chinese government. It can be forecasted that the intellectual property right issue will still be one of the sensitive problems between China and EU in the future. This article tries to sum up the China-EU cooperation mechanism on intellectual property rights, and then will introduce the main interest requests made by the EU on the intellectual property right issues including both horizontal and sector requests. At last, this article points out the 3 main contradictions between EU and China on the intellectual property right issues. These contradictions will, to some extent, indicate the direction of the next round of China-EU intellectual property right dialogue.
