Abstract
Objective To explore the expression of ezrin and bcl-2 in gastric carcinoma and analyze the relationship between their expression and clinicopathological characteristics. Methods A series of 58 gastric carcinomas,20 normal gastric mucosal samples were examined for the expression of Ezrin and bcl-2 using immunohistochemistry. The correlation and clinical significance were analyzed. Results The positive rates of Ezrin protein were 25.0 %(5/20),63.9%(37/58)in normal gastric tissues and gastric carcinoma, and that of bcl-2 protein were 30%(6/20)and 65.5%(38/58),respectively.The expression of Ezrin was correlated to the clinical stage and lymph nodemetastasis, while the expression of bcl-2 was correlated to the clinical stage. The expression of ezrin was positively correlated to that of bcl-2 in gastric carcinoma(rp=0.785).Conclusions The expression rate of ezrin and bcl-2 were higher in gastric carcinoma. They may play an important role in the development of gastric carcinoma.Further analysis on the pathways downstream of ezrin are warranted.
