Japan Prefecture and County Wide Area Green Space Planning and Inspirations

The urban green environmental construction is the effective way to improve the urban ecological environment, to form the rational urban structure shape, to satisfy the modern living demands of residents, and to help the urban sustainable development. Discussing the protection and using of the urban green space in terms of area have already become inevitable. In 1994 Japanese Ministry of Construction partially revised the Urban Green Space Protection Law and the planning of prefecture and county wide area green space has become a working system. Through introducing the backgrounds, outlines and contents of wide area green space system planning of Japan, and analyzing its main characteristics, the experiences and lessons in wide area green space system planning are explored, which could provide some inspirations for the current research work of municipally administered area green space system planning in China.
