Abstract

This paper attempts to analyze the cognitive features of metaphor theories from the perspectives of cognitive science?philosophy? linguistics?sociology? psycho-linguistics. Metaphor is an integral part of the target language and a way of thinking. It exists both in language and life, thus the comprehension of metaphor to a large extent depends on the understanding of that culture. More emphasis should be given to the study and the application of metaphor.
