Abstract
The 3,3′-Methylene-bis[6-hydroxybenzoic acid],a light stabilizer, was synthesized from salicylic acid and 37% formaldehyde solution,25% phosphoric acid as catalyst. The effects of materials ratio, temperature, reaction time on the synthesis were studied. The proper technological conditions were given as follows:the molar ratio of salicylic acid and formaldehyde was 1∶0.58,the reaction temperature was 98 ℃,and the reaction time was 9 h.The product was characterized by infrared spectroscopy and 1HNMR,confirmed its structure. The yield of the product could be reached more than 89.4%,purity of the product was 97.6%.
