Abstract
AIM: To study the expression of p15 protein in lung cancers. METHODS: Immunohistochemical streptavidin biotin peroxidase complex (SABC) method was used to stain sections of lung cancers. RESULTS: In 93 cases of lung cancers, positive expression of p15 protein was found located in the nuclei or cytoplasm. In lung squamous cell carcinomas, lung adenocarcinomas and small cell lung cancers, the positive rate of p15 protein expression was 52.0%, 60.0% and 28.6% respectively. The positive rate of p15 protein expression in well differentiated lung squamous cell carcinomas or lung adenocarcinomas was higher than that in poorly differentiated ones ( P 0.05). CONCLUSION: Protein p15 expresses in various types of lung cancers, and its positive expression in lung squamous cell carcinomas and lung adenocarcinomas is related to their differentiation degrees.
