A Comment on the Life of the Tragic Hero Jiao Liang

Jiao Liang was an important figure in the TaiPingTianGuo Movement. He joined the TaiPing Army as a union leader and made great contributions to the movement in its early stage. The most commendable quality of Jiao Liang was his profound cognition to the limitations of the religious theories and other policies of TaiPingTianGuo and his courage to criticize them as well as his efforts to reform them. However, due to the limitations of the peasantry class itself, he failed to realize his great ambitions and was killed after his arrest. Jiao Liang became a tragic hero.
