Abstract
Preliminary field research was conducted in 2004 to investigate the efficacy of the alkaloids in Sophora alopecuroides for control of cabbage caterpillar and their effect on Chinese cabbage quality. Spray treatments of the alkaloids at 200 mg/L controlled cabbage caterpillar 81.1%. The most preventive and killing effect was perfect up to 81.1%. No residues of 5. alopecuroides alkaloids were detected from any of the spray treatments, while chlorophyll content increased by an average of 1.6 times that of the control, NO2 content of the plant tissue decreased significantly, and vitamin C content tended to increase initially followed by later decreases.
