Abstract
To study the environmental impact of brine discharged from a desalination plant, the salinity of brine discharged in the loop-channel was predicted using numerical simulation, and improvement measures were proposed. The results show that in the actual case, the maximum salinity occurs in April when the relative evaporation is high, and the volume of pumped water from the loop-channel is small. When all brine is discharged in the loop-channel during the operation of desalination plant,a sharp rise in salinity will be observed. The maximum salinity occurs in March when the volume of pumped water is lowest in a year. The salinity demand is met by raising the pumped volume.
