Abstract
The cucumber shoot apices were treated with different concentration of oryzalin or colchiine to induce tetraploid plantlet. The results showed that oryzalin was an efficient agent for induction of tetraploid cucumber with shoot apices, the suitable concentrations range was 100-200 μmol/L with 24 h treatment.Colchine could be efficiently replaced by oryzalin.Oryzalin concentration for tetraploid induction is very low and effective. It is low toxicity and less harmful to human and environment.Compared to colchicines,it is an ideal induction agent for cucumber chromosome doubling.Flow cytometry was used to determine the ploidy of cucumber plantlets induced after oryzalin and colchine treatment in vitro.
