Abstract
Warburg effect is that cancer cells exhibit an increased dependence on glycolytic pathway for ATP generation. It provides a biochemical basis for the design of the anti-metabolic agents for cancer treatment. The Warburg effect and the explanations of its main possible mechanisms are introduced, and the anti-cancer agents developed in recent years based on this effect are summarized.
