RESEARCH ON STRATIGRAPHIC SEQUENCE OF THE JURASSIC-CRETACEOUS LAVA IN JIANGSU PROVINCE

The paper summarizes published and new data that bear on the stratigraphic division and correlation of the Jurassic and Cretaceous systems in Jiangsu Province.Based on a synthesis of paleontologicae,geochronometric,and geochemical data,the author re-evaluates the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous stratigraphic sequence and proposes that the usage of the Longwang,Yunhe,Dawang,Gushan and Niangniangshan formations be discontinued,and that these volcaniclastic formations be classified as part of the Xihengshan、Pukou、and Chishan formations.The Jurassic-Cretaceous boundary should be placed between the Xihengshan and Xiangshan formations.
