Abstract
Objective To study the causing factors of spinal nerve roots stuck anatomically in the cervical intervertebral foramen Methods The sagittal width and height of the intervertebral foramen and the spinal nerve roots were measured respectively on 60(120 sides totally male 28, female 32) adult cadavers The data were obtained and the corresponding ratio of spinal nerve roots to intervertebral foramen were processed statistically Results (1) The sagittal width and height of the cervical intervertebral foramen were larger in the male than in the female (P0 01) (2) The ratio of spinal nerve roots to the intervertebral foramen in the female was significantly higher than in the male's The rations in C5,6,7 were higher than in C3,4 Ratios of the external diameter of the spinal nerve roots were larger than the corresponding intervertebral foramen accounted for 3 3% in the male,17% in the female Conclusion It is suggested that the spinal nerve roots lesions were not only related closely to the stenosis of intervertebral foramen, but also related to the external diameter of the spinal nerve roots and the soft tissue in spinal nervous canal
