Abstract
Villagers’ Self-governance is a system of grass-roots autonomy in which rural residents manage the affairs of their own village independently and in accordance with the law.The system is not only an important constituent part of the socialist political system with Chinese characteristics,but also an effective way of rural grass-roots management in the present situation,which fully reflects such principles or characteristics as mass autonomy,direct democracy,universal equality,grass-roots independence,etc.Not only is villagers’ self-governance and development of the socialist theory of autonomy,but also it is an innovation of the practice of socialist autonomy.
