Abstract
To understand further the relations between Epstein-Bar virus (EBV) and nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) and synthetically investigate immune functions in NPC patients, we detected DNA fragment of EBV using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method and determined antibody (EBV-VCA/IgA), activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde(MDA) and varied trace elements in serum in NPC patients. The results: DNA fragment of EBV was detected from nasopharyngeal tissue in NPC patients, it is further demonstrated that there are close relations between the occurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and the infection of Epstein-Barr virus. The synthetical and comparative study on EBV-VCA/IgA, SOD, MDA and varied trace elements in serum in NPC patients provided a scientific basis for diagnosis, therapeusis and prognosis.
