Abstract
Water model experiments were taken to install proper flow control devices for a slab continuous casting tundish.Cases of weir + dam were optimized by orthogonal experiments. The results show that there are short circuit flow and large dead volume in the tundish without flow control devices.Case 3 can obviously improve the flow field, which lengthens the average residence time, makes dead volume decrease, plug volume increase.Furthermore, the flow is close to the surface when case 3 is used, which is helpful for inclusion removal.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
