Abstract
Sanjiang region of western Yunnan is a typical instance to research basin-mountain coupling as its unique Meso-Cenozoic basin-mountain pattern.Based on the study to the superimposed structural stages and types of this area, the author catalog its basin-mountain coupling relations, and approach the sedimentary response process of the lanping-simao basin to the evolution of adjacent orogenic belt. The result shows that this area went through three kinematic processes of basin-orogen coupling during Meso-Cenozoic,namely,coupling between main collisional orogen belt and foreland basins(T1-T2),post collisional orogen belt and extensional basins(T3-K),and intra continental basin-range covariant(E-Q).Lanping-Simao Meso-Cenozoic superimposed basin is a result of geologic procession which Mesozoic rift basin and Cenozoic pull apart basin overprinted on Triassic multiple back-arc foreland basin, therefore its depositional formation includes foreland basin flysch deposition, piedmont molasse deposition and rift basin red clastic deposition. The crust-mantle mechanisms of delamination and magma underplating control the basin transformation in Mesozoic.
