Abstract
Objective To explore the antiviral effect and mechanism of the recombinant CV-N on her- pes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2).Methods CV-N in various concentrations was applied to different stages of HSV-2 replication cycle.Finally,the cytotoxic effect,cytopathic effect (CPE) and MTT colorimetric assay vital cell rate were used as markers to evaluate the effect of CV-N on HSV-2.Results CV-N had little cy- totoxic effect on Vero cells,it could not directly inactivate HSV-2 infectivity.CV-N not only interfered in ad- sorption of HSV-2 to Vero cells but also inhibited HSV-2 biosynthesis in the cells,which were more effective than the positive control Acyclovir.Conclusion CV-N exhibited pronounced antiviral activities agaist HSV-2.
