Abstract
Objective To compare the effect difference of abdominal wounds healing between a single-layer suture and layered suture to vertical midline incision of colon-rectal operation. Methods Each 65 patients of 1998 to 2000 and 2007 to 2008 were compared retrospectively. The data pool between a single-layer suture group or layered suture group were analyzed, and the wound healing rate and the incidence of complications were compared. Results The operation time of the single-layer suture group were less than the layered suture group significantly(6.31±0.58 min Vs 9.58±0.95 min). The rate of primary healing and the first rate were no difference. The difference of the two groups such as recent complication include fat liquify(3.07 % vs 15.38 %),infection of incisional wound(3.07 % vs 9.24 %)or disruption of wound(1.54 % vs 13.85 %)and long-term complication such as chronicity sinuses(1.54 % vs 7.69 %)were significant(P0.05).No incisional hernia happen in the single-layer suture group, but 2 cases in layered suture group. The differences were no statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusions A single-layer suture is effective significantly to prevent infection of incision or disruption of wound compared with layered suture. To use wide-bite closure was an important technique to prevent acute or delayed wound failure.
