Abstract
Homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) is a new technique in the field of combustion. It is different from the traditional combustion technique. Due to the high burning efficiency and low exhaust with NO_x, it becomes a focus in the research of combustion. The HCCI combustion technique has the potential to solve the existent problems about the let of the engine. The characteristics and strongpoint of HCCI combustion as well as the mechanism are discussed. Several suggestions in dealing with the two key control problems of the HCCI combustion are put forward.
