An Analysis on Cancer Incidence of Elderly Patients in Yangcheng County of Shanxi Province,1998～2007

[Purpose] To investigate the cancer incidence of elderly patients in Yangcheng county.[Methods] Based on the report data from cancer registry in Yangcheng county,incidence of elderly patients(60) with malignancy from 1998 to 2007 were collected.Incidence,age-specific incidence,standardized incidence and constituent ratio were calculated.[Results] Fifty-eight hundred and nineteen new cases(3655 in male,2164 in female) were reported.The incidence was 1739.18/105 with 2357.65/105 in male and 1205.20/105 in female.Esophageal cancer and gastric cancer were the highest incidence,which accounted for 38.65% and 36.76% respectively for all cancers.Gastric cancer was the leading cause of cancer incidence in male,followed by esophageal cancer,liver cancer,lung cancer and colorectal cancer.Esophageal cancer was the leading cause of cancer incidence in female,followed by gastric cancer,cervical cancer,liver cancer and colorectal cancer.[Conclusions] Upper digest tract cancer is the main threat to the elderly in Yangcheng county,which should be put emphasis on prevention and control.
