Abstract
The chromogenic reaction between tribromoarsenazo and cerium was studied.The results show that cerium reacts with tribromoarsenazo to form a blue complex in the mixture solution of 0.72 mol/L H2SO4 and 0.9 mol/L H3PO4.And the complex has an absorption maximum at 630 nm with an apparent molar absorptivity of 1.1 105 L/(mol·cm).Beer's law is obeyed when the cerium content in 25 mL solution is in the range of 0~30 μg.The proposed method can be applied in direct determination of cerium content in molybdenum alloy with RSD of 1.07%~2.20% and standard addition recovery of 97%~101%.
