Thoughts on Reformation of College Entrance Examination System:Parallel Operation on the Current College Entrance Examination System and Application System

Based on educational and psychological measurement theories and methods,this paper makes an in- depth analysis the form of the entrance examination conducted on current higher education on thePopularization stage.On the basis of this analysis,the author proposed changing the traditionalone exam for all schoolsform of entrance examination,and reforms the college entrance examination system by implementing a parallel operation in which college entrance examination system is combined with application system.Under this new system,entrance examinations for higher vocational institutes and schools will be separated from the current college entrance examination system.As a result,the college entrance examination system will be divided into two levels,one is theundergraduate level,and the other isvocational institutes/schools level.Correspond with the current college entrance examination system;the former level will be taking the norm-referenced tests that reflects the selection function of entrance exams;the latter will be taking a standard reference examination, and will use the application system instead of the current entrance examination system.
