Abstract
Objective:To explore the correlation between predictive factors for difficult tracheal intubation and intubation time with a light-wand device. Methods:One hundred and twenty five ASA physical status Ⅰ~Ⅲ adult patients who required intubation for elective surgery were randomized enrolled in the study. Then their body mass index (BMI),mouth opening(MO),thiopental distance(TMD),Mallampati class(MC),Cormack and Lehane scoring (laryngoscope grades,LG)were calculated and recorded before intubation. After anesthesia induction, all patients underwent tracheal intubation using the light-wand device. In the end, calculated and recorded intubation time, number of times of intubation and success rates, the correlation between BMI,MC,LG,etc and intubation time with a light-wand device were evaluated. Results:Overall tracheal intubation success rate was 96.7%(118/122),and average time to successful intubation for overall success times were (10.62±5.997) seconds. In those predictive factors for difficult tracheal intubation that MC (β=0.441,t=7.339,P=0.000) and LG (β=0.413,t=6.988,P=0.000) score were very important to intubation time when using light-wand device. Conclusion:So it is sure that blind oral tracheal intubation using the light-wand is a simple and effective modality. Predictive factors for difficult tracheal intubation may influense intubation time with the light-wand,and MC and LG are two most important factors.
