Abstract
Based on 20-year observed data, the interannual variation of deposition/erosion in Wujiadu-Xiaoliuxiang reach of Huaihe River is analyzed using sediment balance method. It is shown that this channel is generally under erosion state. In low flow years, the channel shows equilibrium or slight deposition. The erosion amout is more than deposition during medium flow years, and the channel exhibits erosion almost in all high flow years. The deposition or erosion in the reach during high flow years and normal years is mainly determined by flood periods, but in low flow years by non-flood periods. Finally, the relation between deposition/erosion in the Wujiadu-Xiaoliuxiang reach and discharge, sediment concentration, incoming sediment coefficient at Wujiadu is systematically analyzed.
